After She Leaves: Online Learning for the VAW Sector (2010-2012)

Springtide Resources partners with Luke's Place Support and Resource Centre to provide an online training for community workers who support abused women. This project is funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

The content for our online training, After She Leaves, draws from a resource manual by the same name which Luke's Place created for frontline workers. This manual was originally developed in 2004, updated in 2010, and translated into French in 2011. Pamela Cross, who undertook the manual's updating, developed the content for our collaborative online training.

Project Outcomes:

The online training material resulting from this project is designed for any frontline worker or volunteer supporting women who have experienced abuse and are involved in the family law system, including settlement and housing workers as well as shelter workers and those in women's organizations.

After She Leaves: Supporting Women through the Family Court Process is a self-directed, skills-based online training that covers:

  • safety strategies for the court setting
  • writing affidavits
  • court documents and procedures
  • working effectively with lawyers and court officials
  • safety and access issues to anticipate when the court process is over

With this project, Springtide explored providing online training in a variety of formats.
